Forget what art ‘should’ be, come to this pARTy and see what art ‘could’ be. AD HOC presents FRIENDS FOREVER, an interactive art installation by ultra-optimists Casey VanHecke + Brian Edward Selke.
Using balloons, bows and neon signs, Casey + Brian will transform Ad Hoc’s gallery space into a sincerely inclusive pARTy, where the glass is always half-full…of beer. Friends, new and old, are invited to celebrate ideas and engage in an experience that reevaluates the conventional relationship between art and audience.
FRIENDS FOREVER is the first installation of the art duo’s new collaborative project ULTRA-OPTIMISM, art made to make you feel loved. See something new and your dreams will come true. Art is your friend, and your friends love you forever.
Casey + Brian are Chicago based multi-media artists who have worked side-by-side for years. Together they co-founded the ongoing curatorial project, BEST FRIENDS GALLERY.
Paperish Mess, located in Ukrainian Village, is thrilled to announce the opening reception for “PAHANA” featuring the work of Chicago-based Mixed Media artist Mark Nelson on Saturday, June 14th, 2014 from 7:00pm-11:00pm.
Complimentary celebratory libations and snacks will be enjoyed throughout the event!
Mark Nelson brings together a collection of objects he has been producing since a mysterious invitation to a Niman ceremony on the sacred lands of the Hopi in 2011. His fabricated forms and drawings represent an existential quantification of both his initial encounter on a Hopi Mesa high above cinder cone plains and how it relates to our own isolation from our extra terrestrial surroundings as we anesthetize our daily lives with barriers of plastic, aluminum, and Bluetooth transmitted impairment.
